Bubbles

I found this fun little bubble toy at the toy store and picked it up for Rexford today. It was a big hit-he wanted to stay outside forever! Now that it is a little cooler outside we can get back to doing more fun outdoor things again.

He looks so tall and thin here-I can't believe my super chubby baby is this grown up

More Conversations With Rexford

Rexford: I love you Mommy (he comes up and puts his arms around my legs). We're best friends!

Kimberly: We are best friends, I love you too.

Rexford: I love my Daddy too. Daddy is my best friend too.

Kimberly: That's right, Mommy and Daddy love you. We're best friends.

Isn't he so sweet?! He tells us everyday he loves us all day and he's just really sweet. He's giving much better hugs and kisses now too.

This is what Rexford says every morning when he wakes up. I go in his room and he's standing in his crib calling me. When I walk in he says:

Rexford: Good morning Mommy. Can you open the blinds for me?

Kimberly: Good morning Rexford, of course I'll open the blinds for you.

Rexford: Mommy can you fix your hair? (If my hair is down he tells me this and I have to put it up)

Kimberly: Sure babe

Rexford: Mommy can you get me out? I need a new dry diaper.

He's so funny, he says all of this each morning and he's just so happy to see us. It's hard not to smile even when I'm still tired.

Coming Soon!

I had my last ultrasound today and they estimated that the baby was around 6 lbs. 14 oz. By the time I got home, my doctor had called to tell me that I am scheduled to have the baby on Tuesday, October 14th. So I guess that is the day! I have been getting really sad and worried about Rexford so I kind of like knowing a date to plan for. I don't really want to leave him all of a sudden without warning so this is better. We have lots of family around and I know he'll probably be just fine but I'm getting sad about leaving him overnight. I wish he could come stay with me. At least I can start planning now. I've got a long list of little things to do so I need to get going since the date is less than 2 weeks away! Here's a photo from today's ultrasound. He was very cramped in there and so it was really hard to see him. You can his face looking at you in the picture with his chubby little cheek and his eye. He's still doing well, we just don't want him to get too big :)

Sticker Fun

Rexford is into stickers lately and likes to put them on his hands, cheeks, shirt, toys, books, etc. Last night I gave him a page of stickers and he decided to decorate his feet.

Sugar Cookies

A couple of weeks ago we made sugar cookies after a little family home evening. Rexford is old enough to help now and he was very excited to help stir the cookie dough and decorate them. He was very proud of his cookies. I am super excited for Christmas time because that is my favorite sugar cookie baking/decorating time of the year! I think he will lots of fun with the cookie cutters and sprinkles this year. This time we had sprinkles all over the floor but we had fun!

Enjoying the Slightly Cooler Weather

We haven't been to Sea World since June because it has just been too hot. I took Rexford in June when Brian was out of town and it was pretty unbearable so we have been sticking to the water park instead. Last week it finally cooled down a bit! The air was a little drier and the temp cooler and there was actually a little breeze now and then. We met our friends there and Rexford had a great time enjoying the animals and rides with his friend Bennett. He was so excited to see Shamu again after several months of going without. He was so tired that he fell asleep as soon as we got out of the parking lot and slept for 3 hours until I woke up him around dinner time. We had a fun day and hopefully we'll be able to squeeze another trip in before the baby comes.

Babies

Here's our conversation from the car today.

Kimberly: You're going to be a big brother. Your cousin Ethan is going to be a big brother too. Mommy is having one baby and Ethan's mommy is going to have two babies.

Rexford: Mommy have one baby. Ethan have two babies.

Kimberly: Yes, Ethan's going to be a big brother to two babies and you're going to have one baby brother.

Rexford: What's Daddy having?

I think he thinks everyone is having a baby...

Difficult

Tonight Rexford was giving us a hard time after his bath when I was trying to put on his diaper and pajamas.

Brian: Why are you being so difficult?

Rexford: Difficult (laughing). Difficult... What does that mean?

I don't think we ever told him what it meant because we both just started laughing.

Sesame Street Show

Last year I took Rexford to the Sesame Street show at UCF and wanted to take him again this year. With all of my doctor and hospital appointments there was no good time to go to the show. So I decided to have Alyson take him this year. He was very excited and kept telling me that when he woke up in the morning he was going to the Elmo show at Uncle Todd's school. We had to hold him off that morning because he wanted to leave too soon! Alyson said he got antsy the last bit of it and wanted to leave (an hour and a half is a little long for a two year old). I know he enjoyed the show though because he's been talking about it since he went. He told me all about it and said he had fun. Here are a couple of pictures they snapped.

Happy Birthday Shannon!

Just wanted to wish Shannon a Happy Birthday! We had cake on Sunday and Rexford was so excited. He definitely understands all about birthdays and cake! He wanted to sit on her lap and blow out her candles and eat her cake. She let him stick his finger in the cake and he had so much fun eating the icing. We couldn't get any good pictures since he was so preoccupied with the cake but it was fun!

ooh, this is good stuff

To Aly's House We Go

We didn't have anything to do today and I wasn't really up for anything outside so we decided to go visit Aunt Aly. Rexford was so excited when I asked him if he wanted to go and ran into his room to get dressed (usually I have to chase him a little to get him dressed). We packed a bag to take and we were off. Of course he had a blast playing at her house and wanted to play with all of her fun toys. Thanks Aly for entertaining us and getting Rexford tired and ready for his nap :)

Here's Rexford all dressed and ready to go. He wouldn't smile but I think he looks so grown up lately.

Rexford said he wanted to play video games so Aly spent forever trying to figure out how to turn it on. Then once she got it on he pushed buttons for a minute and then said he wanted to turn it off. I guess he didn't like Super Monkey Ball...

Rexford likes to play with Uncle Todd's keyboard so Aly got it out for him and showed him how to make funny sounds.

Gathering

So Rexford has developed this obsession with gathering things into big piles. At least once a day (usually it's more than once) he will go around the house and gather all of the pillows, blankets, and stuffed animals and put them in one big pile on the floor or his bed. Then he sits on the pile or lays there or hides under stuff. He always wants Brian or me to sit in the pile with him. I'm not really sure why he likes to do this but he gets mad if you don't let him. Maybe he likes it because everything is soft. He is very into his blanky and he constantly rubs his mouth on the silky side so maybe he wants to have soft things all around him. Who knows... So we just let him and then clean it all up later. He is tall and so he doesn't have much room in his crib but he insists on having about 10 animals in there with him and 3 blankets. I guess it makes him feel all cozy so what's the harm :) These pictures were taken the other day but today we had a pile twice this size because he gathered a ton more stuffed animals!

This pile is small since there aren't many animals in it - they seem to get bigger each time he makes one!

Baby Ursic Update

There aren't many benefits to having gestational diabetes but one good thing is that we get to have ultrasounds every few weeks. I went today and they said that everything looks fine. The baby is average size, about 4 pounds, 6 oz., and not too big at all so that is good news. I went back and looked and Rexford weighed that same amount two weeks earlier so this little guy is smaller so far. I'm doing well also - I feel good and my numbers are great.

As I was looking at the baby during the ultrasound I was thinking that his profile shot looked just like Rexford's ultrasound picture. I got home and pulled out Rexford's picture and they do look very similar. It will be fun to see how alike/different they look in person. We're getting close - only about 7 weeks to go!

Here is a profile picture of our little one. On the ultrasound I could see him opening and closing his little mouth and moving his hands near his face.

Here is a picture of his foot. He kept grabbing his little toes with his hand so that was fun.

Hot Summer Days

It is so hot every day so we try to visit our favorite water park often. We went on Thursday and it was so nice because it wasn't that crowded. I think all of the summer vacationers are starting to go back home and it made for a very enjoyable morning. We hadn't gone in a few weeks so Rexford had so much fun playing and splashing in the water. Aunt Aly went with us and we took a few pictures.
Rexford and Aly on the tube ride - Rexford loves this one and you get a workout carrying the tube up the stairs over and over

He loves the slides. They are really a lot of fun, I go on them too :)

Rexford's favorite slide is this twisty yellow one. He'll go on it over and over and over again.

Picture Time

I took Rexford to get his pictures taken this morning. At first I thought we would end up going home without any pictures at all. He kept running off the backdrop and would not smile. He kept whining and fussing and running for the door. The lady made him cry and he was not happy. We tried every toy they had but he wouldn't play with any of them on the background. Finally he started to play a little bit and I was able to get him to smile some. There actually turned out to be quite a few cute pictures. Here are three of them. I'll post more when I get them.

Fire Trucks

Rexford loves fire trucks and he asks us to drive by the fire station each time we're out so he can see a fire truck. He's obsessed with them and loves to watch "Fireman Sam" at Grandma Ursic's house. Today we came home and couldn't get to our house because there were four fire trucks, 2 rescue trucks, and some other fire vehicles blocking our way. We drove around and pulled into our driveway from a different way. It seems that our neighbor's house (across the street) was on fire. Of course this is not good but Rexford enjoyed watching the firemen and flashing trucks. He watched them for an hour and would not leave the window.

Sunday Best

Thank you Grandma and Grandpa Ursic for my handsome new church outfit. I wouldn't stand still and smile for the camera at the same time but I look pretty good anyway!

Back to School

Brian is back to work this week so as Rexford puts it, it's "just mommy and me." Every morning during breakfast, Rexford asks me where Daddy is and I tell him that he's in the bathroom getting ready for work. Then Rexford will say, "boo hoo." He hates it when Brian is at work and is always so excited when he comes home. He insists on watching out the window each morning when Brian leaves. We are so lucky that we get him home all summer! But it's back to school time now. We try to keep ourselves busy while Daddy is gone so here's what we did this week.
We went to Disney on Monday and here we are on the carousel :)

We took naps

We played "photographer"

We played "fireman"

My Favorite Friend

Yesterday I was getting Rexford ready to go see some family before bedtime and this is what he said to me.

Rexford: You coming with me mommy?

Mommy: Of course I'm coming with you.

Rexford: Mommy, you my favorite friend. (isn't that the sweetest thing ever?!)

Mommy: Aww, you're my favorite friend too.

I hope he feels that way for a long time! He's so sweet and always wants me to be with him-watching tv, playing in his room, etc. I'm so glad we get to spend so much time together.

Here he is cooking some dinner for me the other day. He always asks me, "what do you like?" and then he cooks it for me.

Weekend Getaway

We spent last weekend in Jacksonville with Brian's brother Eric and his wife Audrey and their son Ethan. We had a lot of fun and it was nice for Rexford to have someone his age to play with the whole time. The only problem was that Rexford wakes up at 7am and Ethan wakes up around 9am so we had to keep Rexford from running to Ethan's room and waking him up! He wanted to play with him so badly it was very hard to keep him entertained every morning. He wouldn't even watch Word World or Caillou! Sorry Eric and Audrey for the morning noise...

The first evening we went to the beach. It was so quiet with no people and no hotels, just the beach. Rexford and Ethan had fun throwing sand back in the water and scooping up water with the bucket. I was surprised but Rexford was very daring and kept running into the water - until he fell down and then he was a little more cautious!

Rexford liked to make footprints in the sand

Playing with Dad

The next morning we went to the zoo. It was a great zoo and it was actually not too sunny so that was nice. Brian fed the sting rays and the kids got to brush goats. Rexford loved the animals, especially the giraffes, elephants, and goats. He's still talking about how the giraffe was eating lettuce and how he got to brush the goat. They had a great splash park there but we didn't last long there since we were all pretty tired and hungry by that point.

That night we went to the beach again and unfortunately I didn't have my camera with me. Eric caught a big crab and the kids loved it. They followed the poor crab around for a long time. They also enjoyed throwing shells back into the ocean.

The next morning we went to church with them and then got ready to head home. Before we left I captured this fun video of the two boys playing together. Rexford didn't want to leave and he has talked about Ethan, Eric, and Audrey since we got home.

The boys loved jumping on the air mattress

On our way to the car, Brian and Rexford had to stop for a picture on Eric's motorcycle. This is the closest they'll ever to get to driving one because I would never consent :)

Thanks guys for a fun weekend! Come see us soon!
