2nd Annual Strawberry Picking

We went to Dover, FL near Tampa with our friends to pick strawberries again this year over Spring Break. Alyson and Matthew and Jacob came from Bradenton to join us too.  Last year I ran out of jam so this year I wanted to make more.  We picked 24 quarts of strawberries!  The kids were great helpers again this year and loved filling up their buckets.  We were all hot and sweaty but we had fun with our friends cooling off at McDonalds before heading home.We took our strawberries home and washed them all.  Then we made lots of freezer jam, homemade fruit strips, chocolate covered strawberries, popsicles, and strawberry shortcake! Yummy!

Austin's Accident

We went to the beach over Spring Break to stay a night at the hotel Brian's mom had for a few days.  We went on Wednesday afternoon.  We all got dressed to go down and play in the pool.  I was excited because Austin was doing great jumping in the pool and going underwater which he didn't want to do much before that.  After some time in the pool the kids wanted to go down to the beach.  Brian and Rexford started walking and I was going with Austin.  I stopped to help my niece put on her shoes and I hear Austin screaming.  He had gone after his dad and went the wrong way.  He went into the hotel and started climbing the stairs where he tripped and busted his chin open.  I knew right when I saw it that he needed to go to the doctor.  We got a bandaid from the front desk and I walked down to the beach to get Brian.  He took Austin to the walk-in clinic and I stayed with Rexford.  Brian said that Austin was super quiet and didn't cry or talk the whole time.  They put Dermabond on his chin and covered it with a bandaid and said he couldn't get it wet for 5 days.  So for our rest of the day and next day at the beach he couldn't get in the pool or play in the water.  I felt so bad for him but he took it pretty well.  We let him play in the sand and sit on the edge of the pool with his legs in so he could squirt us with water guns.  We ended up having a fun time after a bad start :)

Rexford's School Play

Rexford's school play was based on the Farmer Brown stories and it was really cute.  Rexford was a mouse along with two other kids who held up scores after the animals performed.  Then at the end he had to dance.  I couldn't see him most of the time during the dancing because he was behind a girl.  We loved watching his play and he did a great job!

Rexford's Book Report

Rexford had to do a book report where he had to make a scene from the book and then give an oral presentation to the class about the setting, characters, etc.  He wasn't allowed to have anything written on paper.  He did a great job and got all of his points.  Here is his scene from "Junie B Jones Has a Peep in Her Pocket."

St. Patrick's Day

On St. Patrick's Day morning we woke up to find a note from the leprechauns that visited our house.  They played in the boys' toy room and left us a rainbow cake and green milk!  Rexford and Austin were so excited about the cake and we took it over to Papa's house to share with everyone.  It was yummy!

Fun with Cousins

Shannon and Anderson came to visit for a couple weeks in March and we had fun hanging out with them.  Rexford was excited because he got to take two days off of school to go to Sea World and Aquatica with them.  Here are some pictures of the fun we had together.
