First Feeding

Well, Austin is now 4 months old and growing so much. He loves to sit up (with help of course) and look around. He is always rolling to his tummy and now prefers to sleep that way, which is scary but he rolls there so... I took him for his doctor's appointment this week and he is still smaller than Rexford was at his age. He weighed in at 17 lbs. 15 oz. and was 25.5 inches long. (Rexford was 20 lbs. 2 oz. and 26.25 inches). So maybe he'll take it a little slower and won't be too heavy to carry too soon :) He's already wearing size 4 diapers though. I was relieved to find out that he did not have ringworm as I thought. I was getting concerned because I thought it was spreading. It turns out it is eczema so nothing contagious :) Just have to put lotion on him and keep him from getting dry skin. He wasn't too happy about his 4 shots but was in a pretty good mood the rest of the day.

The doctor said he could try cereal and foods if he seemed interested. He always gets a little mad when we're eating dinner and he's in the bouncy seat or away from us. He wants to sit at the table with us and then he's content. I guess he just wants to be included. Tonight he was sitting on Brian's lap watching us eat so I thought I would make a little rice cereal and let Rexford feed him. He made a face the first couple of spoonfuls and a lot dribbled out of his mouth throughout the feeding but he really started to want it. He opened his mouth and acted like he wanted more. So I think he liked it. Rexford enjoyed feeding him too and I'm glad he got to participate.

My Shopping Helper

Every week when we go shopping Rexford always wants his own shopping list. Last week when I was making my list he said he wanted to make one too. He colored it and then wanted me to help him write down some items on his list. Here's my little helper with his list.

He told me that we need grapes, bananas, crackers, cereal, and a red farm (don't know where he got that one). He told me that we had to write bananas with the yellow crayon because bananas are yellow :)

Orlando Science Center

Our Universal passes expired and Rexford turns three this summer so I didn't want to pay for two so we decided not to renew this year. Instead we decided to buy a family pass to the Orlando Science Center. We went on Tuesday for the first time and it was so much fun! There is so much for Rexford to do there and we could have stayed all day. I had a great time too! We didn't do everything there yet but had fun with what we did do. I'm looking forward to many more fun visits this year.

Fire Truck Fanatic

We went to the Dover Shores Carnival Friday afternoon and Rexford got to play a few games and eat a few treats. At the games he really just wanted to pick a lollipop and didn't really care too much about doing the game. What he was most excited about that night though was the fire truck that was there. Once he saw it that was all he wanted. He climbed right up in it and only wanted to sit in the driver's seat. He didn't want to get out but we had to let other kids in so he didn't really like that. The firemen even called him their mascot because they see him ride by the fire station all the time to look at the trucks. He just wanted to sit there and pretend he was driving the fire truck. He was so happy! He had a great time!

A Blustery Day

We didn't have any plans yesterday and Rexford kept asking what we were going to do so we decided to go to the park. I didn't realize it was so windy outside or I might have put jackets on the kids. We stayed warm in the sun and it turned out to be a beautiful day. We put Austin in the swing for the first time. I packed blankets around him so he wouldn't flop around. I'm not sure if he liked it too much. He didn't cry but didn't really smile either. I think he probably would have liked it better if the wind hadn't been so strong. Then we had fun going down the slides and feeding the ducks. Rexford was a little nervous because a duck got his hand last week when he held on to the bread a little too long. He threw a few pieces from far away and enjoyed pushing the stroller around the lake. We watched some people skating on the hockey rink and then flew a kite. Here are some pictures of our blustery day at the park and a video of Austin in the swing.

I'm not too sure about this...

President's Day

Brian had the day off so we asked Rexford what he wanted to do. He said he wanted to go to Barnes and Noble and play with the Thomas trains. So off we went and Rexford had a good time playing with trains, going up and down the escalator, and lining up every book with wheels in the middle of the aisle. Then he said he wanted to go to Petland. We weren't near Petland but we went to the pet store next door. Rexford really liked to watch the hamsters and mice spin on their wheels. He thought they were funny and kept saying, 'They're exercising." He wanted to see dogs but they didn't have any dogs so we left and went to Shannon's house to give Wally a treat.

After naps we played with toys and took some pictures and videos. Here are the boys in their matching shirts.

Austin is constantly rolling over to his tummy. He doesn't know how to roll to his back yet. Whenever I lay him down, he rolls over within minutes. Then he pulls his legs up and tries to go forward. Of course he can't do it yet but I don't think Rexford even tried at this age. He does it over and over. He is a wiggle worm, always moving his legs and trying to get to something. When we sit him in our lap he's always lunging for toys. He loves to watch Rexford play with his toys. Here's a little video of him rolling and pulling up his legs trying to scoot.

Valentine's Day

The day before Valentine's Day Rexford and I made heart-shaped cookies and decorated the house. Rexford kept saying he wanted to decorate the house with balloons so we got some and put them up all over the dining room. Then we made lots of cookies. Rexford helped me make the icing and enjoying licking the mixer and then he had so much fun putting on the sprinkles. He wanted to do it all by himself so I let him. This of course meant that I had to clean up quite a few sprinkles off the floor but I needed to vacuum anyway. He put each different kind of sprinkles on each cookie. He wasn't done with a cookie until he had put each kind on top. He made sure that I didn't take it away too soon :)

On Valentine's Day we had heart pancakes and little goody bags. Rexford wanted to open his while I was cooking so I let him. He was so excited when he opened up his bag and saw a little Lightning McQueen car and Mack along with a giant Hershey Kiss. He has played with Mack constantly since he got it and insists on sleeping with it too. He kept telling my sister that he got it for Valentine's Day when she asked to see it. In his prayer that night he said, "Thank you for Valentine's Day." It was really a lot of fun with him this year and he was so cute and excited about it all.

Licking the yummy icing - he was so surprised when I handed it to him. He had a look like "you're really going to let me eat this!"

I'm a Little Teapot

Rexford sings all the time now. Lately he's been singing "I'm a Little Teapot." He always tries to tip over at the end and loses his balance. It's hard to get him to do it for the camera but I was able to get it from the hallway this time. He sang it fast because he knew I was taping. Usually the end is funny as he stumbles over but still cute anyway.

Catching Up

I know it's only been two weeks since I've posted but I feel like I have catching up to do. I have pictures and videos piling up on my camera and need to get them blogged. Since I last posted, Rexford started pulling night-time stunts like sending me away and calling for Daddy because he knows Daddy will lay down with him for a few minutes (Daddy is such a softy). He somehow scratched his face and was picking at it so he walked around with a band aid on his face for a week. Rexford also plays and pretends by himself a little more, loves the movie Cars, loves to sing songs and dance, and always wants to play on the computer. Austin has been rolling like crazy and pulling his legs up trying to crawl. He loves to sit up and see what's going on. He also squeals and smiles like crazy. So here's a post to catch up on all of this!
