More Lizards

Daddy caught a lizard in the backyard last night for Rexford. He pet it and put his hands out to hold it but then got nervous and wouldn't do it.

Lizards

Rexford really likes to look for lizards at Papa's house so my mom bought him a little cage. The first time Papa caught a lizard and then came over and got Rexford with the bike trailer. Rexford was so excited and he held the little cage on the bike ride. He kept picking it up and saying, "hi lizard." They eventually let it go which Rexford liked to watch too. Now every time we go to Papa's house he wants to look for lizards and tells us to "catch it." Aunt Aly caught one for him today but we didn't have the cage with us so we let it go but Rexford was very excited to see it up close. Rexford carrying his lizard around Shannon's backyard

Pudding Party

We didn't really do anything fun today since we had to go grocery shopping so Rexford and I decided to make chocolate pudding for our after-lunch-dessert. Of course he loved the pudding but when I pulled out the camera he really decided to go crazy. He kept telling me to take more pictures and kept laughing and saying cheese.

Laughing for the camera

Yummy!

I told him to look at the camera so he bent down and gave me this adorable face!

Spring Break

It is sad but Spring Break is just about over. We had such a good time with Brian home all week. We went to the beach, visited a fun new water park, played outside, visited family, and Brian even painted the house. Here are some pictures from our beach day. Rexford and Daddy built sand castles and looked for shells. They found a lot of shells! Rexford was a little nervous about the water this year but had fun playing in the sand instead.

Dancing at Dinner

Rexford frequently amuses us with dancing while he eats his dinner. Tonight was especially entertaining. I have no idea where he learned these moves, he just does them. We think it's pretty funny.

Coming in November 2008

Here's Rexford with his new shirt announcing the coming addition to our family! His new sibling will be arriving in early November. I'm sure he doesn't quite understand but when I asked him if he wanted to wear his big brother shirt, he said "baby."

Easter Fun with Papa

On Saturday my dad dyed eggs with Rexford and instead of orange, this time his body was blue. He had fun though and loved to pick the eggs up with his hands and drop them in the cups. He was very excited to see the eggs change colors. He also learned he could punch his finger through the egg when he pushed it into the egg carton. After dyeing the eggs, he enjoyed using the hose to clean off the patio and himself.

One of Rexford's new favorite things to do with Papa is look for lizards (not something I encourage). He never does this at home so maybe he thinks they only live at Papa's house. I prefer to believe that too. Yesterday he kept running around screaming, "lizard, where are you?" It was really cute so I had to try to capture it.

Orange Legs

Rexford and I decided to dye eggs today. I wanted to last year but he was a little too young so I thought this year would be fun. And it was fun, but very messy too. I decided to do it outside because I could just see dye all over our counter and floor. He was so excited and so happy when I put the pan on the ground and gave him the bowl of eggs. He grabbed the eggs and started dropping them in the colors. He then stirred all of them splashing dye everywhere. Then he ditched the spoons and decided it was more fun to reach his hands in and pull out the eggs. He particularly liked the orange one so he repeatedly took it out and dropped it in again. The colors were a little mixed up but he had fun so it didn't matter to me. Every time I open the fridge now he says "eggs" and gets a big smile and wants me to tell him what a good job he did and how great the eggs look. He's very proud and can't wait to show them to Daddy this afternoon!

Look, it turned orange!

Fun in the Sun

Yesterday was pretty hot so after a nice nap Rexford and I went out to play. He always wants to play with the water and since it was hot I let him.

This scary toad popped out of the ground and totally freaked me out! We went inside shortly after he appeared.

Early Easter Fun

Rexford is really enjoying egg hunts this year and has quite a collection of eggs at home now. He had a fun Easter egg hunt with Grandma yesterday and let out a gasp every time he saw an egg. He also enjoyed opening the eggs to find all the fun stuff inside. They tried to dye a few eggs but Rexford plopped the eggs into the containers splashing dye everywhere. He doesn't really understand the word gentle yet. He was so tired after all the Easter fun that he fell asleep on the way home.

So Handsome

Here are my two men all ready for church today. They were wearing their matching blue shirts and yellow ties. Just thought they looked handsome!

Easter Egg Hunt

Rexford attended his first Easter Egg Hunt yesterday. I practiced a little at home because he had never been to one and I figured that he probably would have no clue what to do. He learned very quickly and had a great time finding lots of eggs. He had a basket full and was still gathering more!

Popsicles, Cell Phones, and Vacuums

I had never given Rexford a popsicle before because I never buy them and I just never thought about it. Friday my mom brought over some popsicles for Rexford and I gave him one. He didn't know what to do with it at first but he figured it out quickly and seemed to enjoy it! Here he is eating his first popsicle!

Rexford has my sister's old cell phone to play with around the house and he often walks around with it at his ear saying, "hello." Whenever I ask him who he is talking to he always says, "Aly" (his aunt). We were watching Rexford's cousin Ian last week so we had his car seat and Rexford kept sitting down in it and talking on his phone.

Rexford is just like his father-he loves to clean! Everyday he pulls the vacuum cleaner out of the closet and pushes it into another room. Then he stands there pushing the on/off switch and screams, "vacuum on" until we plug it in for him. Then he uses the attachment to clean the floor. He will do this forever if you let him!

Cheerios

I bought Rexford this Cheerios play book to entertain him at church and he loves it. Everyday he pulls it out and says "cheerios" and then points for me to go get the box of Cheerios for him. This morning, like most mornings lately, he wouldn't eat anything for breakfast so when he pulled the book out I was happy because then I knew he would eat something!

Following Rexford

Sometimes it is fun to just follow Rexford around the house and see where he goes. Here is what I found him doing one day last week.

Saying "cheese" on the table of course

Excited to get his hands on Daddy's books

Look at this!

Brushing up on religious ideas and grammar. Notice the visible diaper-these size 3T overalls will not stay buttoned because he is too tall!

Hair

Rexford's hair is usually combed and laying flat so I just thought this after bath look was kind of different and cute. He thought it was pretty funny when he looked in the mirror and he laughed at himself. He loves to mess up his hair after we comb it so maybe this is how he really wants it!

Our Crazy Week

Well, the last week has been crazy! Brian started his new job, my hard drive crashed causing me to lose almost everything, and we went to a fun Rascal Flatts concert. So it was good and bad. I just got my computer back this weekend and so now I can get caught up on here.

Rexford is growing up so fast. I think he is becoming more attached to Brian lately and prefers him over me at times. He asks for him all day and wants to be just like daddy-cleaning, mowing the lawn, helping with the trash and the dishes, eating cookies, and playing basketball. This week he decided he wanted to tackle eating an apple like daddy eats. I tried to cut small pieces off for him but he didn't want anything to do with them. He wanted the whole thing and it took him quite a while to bite through.

Rexford has taken an interest in watching me cook. We will stand on a chair and watch me. He likes to take his little pot and big spoon and pretend he's making soup. He will stir it and then put the spoon up to his mouth and make eating noises. Here he is testing his soup.

Rexford also likes to pretend he's feeding his stuffed animals or toys. He will take his little pig and feed it his banana. Today he decided to feed his cougar some of his animal crackers and juice. Of course when I got out the camera he stopped feeding it.

As I mentioned earlier, we went to the Rascal Flatts concert on Thursday night so Aunt Aly and Uncle Todd came over to watch Rexford. He waited up for me to put him to bed (we have to work on that) but that's okay. Alyson took this picture after we left. Rexford put on Brian's shoes and said he wanted to go.

Here's Rexford mowing the lawn in his slippers! He loves to run through the house pushing his mower and recently has started doing it with his slippers on.

Lazy Monday

After the weekend it is nice to just do nothing on Monday. So Rexford and I played with toys and then went outside for awhile to ride his tricycle. I couldn't stay out long because my allergies were unbearable so we were back inside before long. I hadn't pulled out the video camera in awhile so I thought I'd take a few videos. So here they are, enjoy!

House

Rexford likes to pull out these mats and play so we made them into a little house the other day. He takes his toys in there and plays with them. He even cleans his house with his hand vac (he is just like Daddy). He is into pretend play lately. He has several Little People play sets and he loves to play with the people and animals. That is the first thing he does when he wakes up. He really likes it when I make the people talk. He also likes to pretend he's playing guitar and he loves to use his "nammer" (hammer) when he pretends he's Bob the Builder. He has been talking like crazy this week, learning many family members' names, and naming things he sees all day long.

Go Go Go!

Rexford always wants to go somewhere. Usually everyday at some point he gets his shoes and brings them to us and shouts "go, go, mama, go bye!" He sometimes will get my shoes or Brian's shoes and bring them to us too. On Saturday he went to the door and put on Brian's shoes and pointed to the door and said he wanted to go. When we ask him where he wants to go he will just say go again or sometimes he'll say, "go papa" (that means he wants to go to grandpa's house). One time a few weeks ago he wanted to go somewhere so we got in the car and drove around town but no one was home so we picked up a pizza(his favorite dinner item) and came back home. He is becoming a very vocal little boy and talking all the time. His latest words are Ian(his cousin), purple, air, and Aly(his aunt). It is fun now that he can tell us what he wants and doesn't want. He is growing up too fast!
